In addition to frequent donations to the local schools and churches for their fundraising events and use of the facility by non-profit groups for special events, we do ongoing work with 3 special agencies.
American Red Cross — we host 2 community blood drives annually. We do a drive in the early spring and another the day after Thanksgiving (which we’ve renamed “Red Friday). The fall drive, in particular, is an important one, coming at a time when needs are high and drives thin out for a few weeks.
Saukville Food Pantry — we serve as an ongoing drop point for non-perishable food items. Members and other patrons are encouraged to frequently add a few items to the barrel!
Advocates of Ozaukee County — we’ve done a few special drives and last summer began a new event (Tabata-thon) to support this critical agency working on behalf of domestic violence victims. In December 2017, Jim began a 3-year term on the Advocates’ Board of Directors and serves on the Advocacy and Community Outreach Committee.
New in January 2018, No Bounds Wellness (the kinder, gentler arm of providers here at the center) is offering 2 sessions of Qigong weekly … Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:15 am, join Jim for a 20-30 minute session of this ancient healing practice. Similar but simpler than Tai Chi, Qigong is accessible to virtually anyone – if you can breathe, you can practice Qigong. These are free sessions open to the community. No reservation is required. Come with an open mind and open heart. Practice regularly and this will become the best 20 minutes of your day. You’ll have more energy, a brighter outlook on things and may find you are simply less “reactive” to negative things that may occur around you.
